Stairway to Heaven
So we already know that Oahu offers many beautiful trails and spectacular views for photographers and those who just like to look at pretty sights. But not every trail is accessible, even if it is safe. That is exactly the case of the Haiku Trail, better know around here as the Stairway to Heaven.
The Stairway to Heaven was shut off to hikers because the trail head is located in a residential area, and the traffic to the trail became a nuisance to the residents. Hikers who do find the trail and decide to make the trek risk a high fine. There is security at the entrance to the trail, so getting caught is very likely. I have been told that if a hiker does make it up the trail without being stopped, he or she can’t be fined on the way out. However, I am not suggesting that anybody venture in to this area, hike the trail, and ultimately break the law. Instead I felt that I should share a video that displays just how beautiful the trail and the view from the top is. I hope you enjoy, and if all goes well, someday Haiku Trail will re-open to visitors.
