A great place for young children to visit…
I am always looking for fun and educational places to visit with my son. Today we had a chance to play at the Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center, and it was worth every penny.
The Discovery Center is an indoor educational experience that features so many different exhibits and activities that I honestly can not remember them all. During the week the Center tends to be a bit quiet, and is a great place for homeschooling families or parents with young children. In fact, many of the exhibits fit in nicely with the curriculum that most young students are studying, whether homeschooled or not, so this is definitely a field trip or supplement to learning. For example, if you are studying health science, take a tour of the mouth by actually stepping in to a giant one! Or you can climb in to a stomach, or learn the challenges and benefits of wheelchairs by actually using one and navigating ramps. Head upstairs to play on a boat, or under the sea in a fish costume, or take another set of stairs and explore houses from Portugal and Japan. There is just so much to do at the Discovery Children’s Center, you might want to become a member!
Check out the Children’s Discovery Center website at http://www.discoverycenterhawaii.org/, and make it a point to visit if you have not already done so. I recommend taking some snacks and drinks. You can leave these on a shelf at the entrance, as food is not allowed in the Center itself.
Aloha and enjoy!
