A warning for Waikiki beach goers

The box jellyfish have arrived, as they do after every full moon, so you might want to head to the other side of the island if you are planning a beach day.
Nearly 600 jellyfish were found today at Waikiki beach as well as Ala Moana beach, and the warning signs should be up at the beaches. If you do not see a warning sign, check with a lifeguard to make sure the water has been deemed clear and free of jellies.
Box jellyfish stings are very serious, and can lead to hospitalization. In fact, it was reported that one person was stung by a box jelly this morning and taken to a local hospital.
Check out the special website created by the Hawaii government for more detailed information about the box jellyfish, how to treat a sting, and what the beach warning sign looks like.
